Powder Coating Services
We offer powder coating services to improve the strength and wear resistance of metal parts such as stainless steel, steel, and aluminum. From single prototypes to high-volume production runs, our advanced coating systems deliver durable, uniform finishes that protect your parts and enhance their performance.
Powder Coating Surface Finish Specifications
| Applicable Materials | Colors | Glossiness | Cosmetic Availability | Thickness | Visual Appearance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel | White, Black, RAL and Pantone | Glossy (Above 70 GU), Matte (Below 30 GU) | No | 50μm to 150μm | Results in a uniform, solid appearance that is both durable and smooth. |
Powder Coating Finish Service Overview
Powder coating is a dry finishing process where a fine powder of pigment and resin is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto a metal surface. The charged particles adhere to the surface and undergo heat-curing to form a hard and durable coating.
Due to its uniform finish, many plastic and metal coating services recommend this surface finish process. Furthermore, powder-coated parts resist chipping, scratching, fading, and corrosion—making it ideal for parts exposed to harsh environments, frequent handling, or outdoor conditions.
Powder Coating Finish Advantages
Key Advantages of Powder Coating
Produces a Tough, Long-Lasting Finish
The heat-cured cross-linked coating creates a molecular bond far stronger than liquid paint. This results in exceptional resistance to chipping, scratching, wear, and impact—extending part lifespan and reducing maintenance costs.
Available in a Wide Range of Colors and Finishes
Choose from thousands of standard colors or request custom color matching to RAL, Pantone, or your proprietary specifications. Finish options include high gloss, matte, semi-gloss, metallic, textured, and special effects.
Solvent-Free and Emits Negligible VOCs
Unlike liquid paints that release harmful solvents during application and curing, powder coating contains no liquid solvents. This makes it environmentally friendly, safer for workers, and compliant with the strictest air quality regulations.
Provides Adequate Protection Against Rust and Corrosion
The dense, continuous coating film acts as a barrier preventing moisture, oxygen, and corrosive elements from reaching the metal substrate. Combined with proper pre-treatment (phosphate conversion coating), powder coating delivers years of corrosion protection even in harsh outdoor or industrial environments.
Enhances the Lifespan of Metal Parts
By protecting against environmental degradation, chemical exposure, and mechanical wear, powder coating significantly extends the functional life of metal components—reducing replacement frequency and total cost of ownership.
Important Notes
Edge Coverage Considerations
Tiny features and sharp edges are prone to powder buildup due to electrostatic attraction and edge coverage effects. For parts with fine details or tight-tolerance edges, discuss masking options during the quoting process.
Special Usage Scenarios
For special applications, please specify your requirements during quoting (e.g., outdoor exposure, chemical exposure, corrosive immersion, high-temperature environments, food contact, etc.). Different environments require specific powder formulations and pre-treatment processes.
Dimensional Tolerance Impact
Standard powder coating adds approximately 50-150μm (2-6 mils) of thickness to all surfaces. Critical tolerance features, threaded holes, and mounting surfaces should be masked or left uncoated to maintain proper fit and function.
Surface Preparation Requirements
Parts must be clean and free of oils, grease, and contaminants for optimal coating adhesion. Rusty or previously coated parts may require additional pre-treatment services such as sandblasting or chemical stripping.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can you match a specific color?
Yes. Send us a physical sample (coated part, paint chip, or material swatch) and we’ll match it precisely using spectrophotometer analysis. Custom color matching adds 3-5 business days to turnaround and requires test coating approval. We can also match RAL, Pantone, or Federal Standard color codes directly from manufacturer color libraries.
Can you coat aluminum parts?
Yes. Aluminum requires specialized pre-treatment (different from steel) to ensure proper adhesion. We use aluminum-specific conversion coating that removes the natural oxide layer and creates a bondable surface. We coat all aluminum alloys including 6061, 6063, 5052, cast aluminum, and 7075.
What's your standard turnaround time?
3-5 business days from receipt of parts to ready-for-pickup/shipment. This assumes parts arrive clean and coating-ready, standard colors, and no complex masking requirements. Rush service (48 hours) available for urgent projects with additional fees.
